Being the first American star in a Noriaki Yuasa Gamera full-length movie was a big deal. In 1967, Daiei Studio leaders finally agreed to accept foreign diversity, thanks to Director Yuasa's persistent efforts. As a young American who spoke Japanese as their first language, I became a link between countries and helped start a new era of kaiju movies. When I walked onto the set, I understood how this film experiment would affect people all over the world. I can't wait to share this journey with other fans.
